Hot Fudge Sundaes: A Classic Summertime Treat

Grab your hot fudge, ice cream, and a cherry topping to celebrate this summertime classic! July 25th is National Hot Fudge Sundae Day, so what exactly is a Sundae?
In the early 1900s, many small towns passed laws prohibiting the sale of ice cream sodas on Sundays because the sugary treat was deemed sinful. One creamery in a small town in Illinois decided to put a twist on the original treat and drizzle hot fudge over the ice cream instead of soda. They called it a sundae because the delicious dessert was created to be enjoyed on Sunday afternoons. Sundaes quickly became a hit and years later, the Sunday summertime tradition of eating ice cream still stands.
At Balchem®, we enhance ice cream through Flavor Systems, Syrups, and Variegates. Our rich chocolate syrup can elevate the experience of a classic sundae by providing deeper flavors and aromas. For a mouthwatering twist on the original, try our Kalva® Dip Coatings which use extremely small flavor particles that provide a hard shell of flavor with a deliciously smooth mouthfeel.
