Dr. Jim Drackley, University of Illinois

Dr. Drackley earned his BS and MS degrees from South Dakota State University and his PhD from Iowa State University. He is currently a Professor of Animal Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Jim’s research program has focused on nutrition and metabolism of dairy cows during the transition from pregnancy to lactation, fat utilization and metabolism, and aspects of calf nutrition and management. Dr. Drackley has published extensively, has supervised more than 45 graduate students to MS or PhD degrees, and has received numerous professional awards. Jim is widely sought by the global dairy industry for speaking and consulting services and has served on the committee to prepare the 8th edition of Nutrient Requirements of Dairy Cattle.
