Propylene Oxide

Propylene Oxide is used principally as a chemical intermediate in the manufacturing of items such as flexible and rigid foams, elastomers, coatings, adhesives, and injection moldings, which are ultimately used in many industrial and consumer products such as tub-shower combinations, gasoline tanks, boat hulls, etc.

Derivatives of Propylene Oxide are used in certain foods, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and pet foods. They are also used in defoamers, oil-field chemicals, lubricants, greases, wetting agents, latex paints, and water scavengers.

Balchem also supplies Propylene Oxide that is registered under EPA FIFRA regulations for the fumigation of nutmeats, spices, certain dried fruits, cacao bean and powder, cosmetics, and several non-food materials. In these applications, Balchem’s Propylene Oxide is used to aid in the control of microbiological spoilage and as an insecticidal fumigant for the control of stored product insects.
